Saint Jo, Texas -- The No. 17 Dodd City Lady Hornets went 2-1 in pool play at the Saint Jo Volleyball Tournament.
Dodd City swept Benjamin, 25-23 and 25-10, in the first match, with Addison Weeks slamming down 16 kills. Gracyn Shindler had six kills and Kaleigh McBrayer put down a pair of kills.
Shindler handed out nine assists, followed by Adisen White (4), Kenzi Freeman (3), McBrayer (3), and Weeks (2).
Weeks had a team-high 11 digs and Shindler led the Lady Hornets at the service line with five aces.
In the second match, Dodd City defeated Lipan, 2-1. Lipan took the opener, 25-17, but Dodd City won the next two sets, 25-15 and 25-22, to clinch the match.
Weeks finished with 14 kills, Shindler knocked down nine kills and Kodi Dorau had three kills.
McBrayer dished out nine assists, with Shindler and Weeks each doling out six assists.
Freeman came up with a team-high 15 digs and McBrayer had three aces.
Dodd City's only loss of the day came against Hico, the No. 25 team in Class 2A. Hico posted wins of 25-15 and 25-21.
Weeks put down 11 kills and Shindler finished with five kills.
Caroline Lackey and Shindler both had a pair of blocks.
Dodd City will return to Saint Jo on Saturday for bracket competition.
