'Roos complete sweep of Austin College Classic

Sherman, Texas --  The Austin College volleyball team wrapped up the season-opening Austin College Classic with two more wins on Saturday, topping Rhodes 3-0 before battling Millsaps to a 3-2 win to remain unbeaten at 4-0.

The 'Roos swept Rhodes to start the day, but it was a tightly-contested battle from start to finish with the Lynx as Austin College picked up wins of 25-21, 25-23, and 25-19 in the match. Austin College hit .244 as a team while Rhodes was just .058. Selah Coleman paced Austin College with 12 kills while adding four digs, and Rachel Sadler added nine kills and a .444 hitting percentage while boasting a team-high 13 digs. She also had a pair of service aces.

Samantha Graham had a big game with eight kills, while Katie Riemer had 24 assists, two aces, and seven digs in the first start of her Austin College career. Laynie Kovacs chipped in a team-best five service aces and also had eight digs in the victory.

The second match of the day against Millsaps was a back-and-forth affair from the start, with Austin College earning a 26-24 set one win, followed by a 29-27 victory for the Majors in the second set. Millsaps went on top 2-1 in the match with a 25-23 third set win before Austin College took set four 25-17, forcing a fifth set that saw the 'Roos clinch the win with a 15-12 score.

Sadler had a monster game for Austin College, tying for the second most kills in a match in program history with 29 while sporting a .333 hitting percentage. Sadler also had nine digs in the win. Coleman posted a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs, while Kovacs finished with 32 digs and Riemer led the team with 23 assists, adding eight digs. Ashby McCracken had a double-double as well, with 21 assists and 11 digs, and Madisin Hartsfield had six total blocks, including four solos, and Lindi Perry had five total blocks with three solos in the win.
