'Roos sweep Arcadia, New England College at Austin College Classic

Sherman, Texas -- Austin College volleyball cruised to a pair of 3-0 victories against Arcadia and New England College on Friday evening on day one of the Austin College Classic, kicking the year off with a 2-0 record as they look to continue that success heading into day two on Saturday.

In the first match of the day against Arcadia, the 'Roos picked up wins of 25-15, 25-14, 25-17 to earn the victory, finishing the match with a team-hitting percentage of .313 while Arcadia was limited to .048, and the 'Roos also recorded 14 service aces and 13 total blocks in the win. It was a balanced offensive attack led by Selah Coleman's seven kills, while Victoria Larson, Samantha Graham, Rachel Sadler, and Madisin Hartsfield each had five.

Madison Manning had a team-best 17 assists and Katie Riemer added 12, while Laynie Kovacs had 10 digs to pace Austin College defensively and Lindi Perry had four block assists. Coleman added nine digs in the victory, while Kovacs had a team-high four aces.

Austin College closed out the evening with a 25-16, 25-16, 25-15 victory over New England College, hitting. 247 as a team while once again posting a big number in the service aces column with 16, led by five from Coleman, who also paced the 'Roos with nine kills and added seven digs. 

Sadler added eight kills in the victory, and Graham added six in a match in which nine players had at least one kill for the 'Roos. Riemer led Austin College with 18 assists and also had three aces, while Ivy Walsh posted four total blocks, including three solo blocks.

The 'Roos will be back in action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. against Rhodes, and wrap up the weekend with a 3:00 p.m. match against Millaps in Hughey Gym.
