Tom Bean, Texas -- The Dodd City Lady Hornets went 2-1 on Saturday, August 30 in competition at the Tom Bean Volleyball Tournament.
Dodd City swept Forestburg, 25-17 and 25-19, with Addison Weeks leading the way with 16 kills. Gracyn Shindler put down five kills, with Lackey, Kodi Dorau, Kayleigh McBrayer and Adisen White each collecting one kill.
Shindler handed out six assists, while McBrayer and White each dished out four assists.
Shindler got under a team-high eight digs, Kenzi Freeman and Weeks both had seven assists, with Kendyl Lindsey and Kennedy Chaney both coming up with one dig.
Shindler also led the Lady Hornets at the service line with four aces. Lindsey had three aces and McBrayer slipped a pair of aces through the Forestburg defense. Caroline Lackey and Shindler each had one block.
In the second match, Dodd City fell to Tioga, 25-21 and 25-18.
Weeks led Dodd City's attack with 11 kills, Shindler slammed down seven kills and Dorau contributed a kill. McBrayer dished out seven assists, Weeks and White each had three assists, while Dorau and Freeman had one assist apiece. Weeks had a team-high seven digs and Shindler had a pair of aces.
In the third match, Dodd City swept Tom Bean, 25-14 and 25-14, with Weeks knocking down a dozen kills. Shindler had six kills, Dorau finished with four kills, with Taylor Voss and Lackey each putting down one kill. McBrayer handed out a team-high nine assists and Shindler led the Dodd City defense with seven digs. Dorau, Shindler and White each had one ace. Lackey had two blocks and Weeks had one block.
Dodd City improves to 10-6 on the year. The Lady Hornets, ranked No. 4 in Class A, will travel to Wolfe City on Tuesday, September 2.
