Lewisville, Texas -- Upper Trinity Regional Water District (Upper Trinity) sponsors the free ‘Water My Yard’ to inform Denton and Collin County residents on how long to water their landscape on a weekly basis - - saving water and money. Residents are encouraged to sign up for this free internet-based service at WaterMyYard.org.

Developed and managed by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, ‘Water My Yard’ uses data collected from local weather stations across Texas, and along with the resident’s sprinkler types, recommends how much water is needed on the landscape. AgriLife’s weekly recommendations are provided in minutes of runtime - - making it easy for residents to adjust their irrigation controller settings to only water as much as needed.

Upper Trinity recently expanded this program by installing a fourth weather station in Celina to provide recommendations for communities in northern Denton and Collin counties.  Upper Trinity have established weather stations in Lewisville, Argyle and Providence Village.

“As part of Upper Trinity’s water conservation program, using ‘Water My Yard’ will help residents save water and money by only watering when needed, as well as how long to water,” said Larry N. Patterson, Executive Director of Upper Trinity. “Upper Trinity asks residents to ‘Give a Drip’ and sign up to receive the weekly ‘Water My Yard’ emails or texts with the watering recommendations which are specific to their location and their own type of irrigation system.”

In addition, Upper Trinity recently released a new video, “Save Water with Water My Yard” to highlight the components of the weather stations that collect and transmit local weather data daily. The video can be viewed on YouTube at https://youtu.be/Q3KxrZ9pVKc?si=dJPq31iSXK1UytLI.
