Myles Galyon said it was good to see a nice turnout for volleyball, football and cross country. Kenzie McCraw complimented the positivity in the district at the start of the school year and said that it is good for community to see. LaTonia Arris said she has been enjoying the posts of the school’s social media pages. She particularly enjoyed the cute videos each campus staff created. She was glad to see the school year starting off on fun and positive notes. Jason Fox wanted to express thanks again to the maintenance staff who worked hard all summer to get ready for school. He was particularly proud of the work done on Finley Oates where the tornadoes destroyed. He said it looks great and he looks forward to when the district can update the rest of the campus. Roberts said it was an exciting start to school year. He said that drop off and pick up started good and are getting better. He also praised the maintenance department for their work cleaning up storm damage, plus all of the usual work on the campus facilities.

District News – Dr. Lance Hamlin said he was excited about start of the new school year. He noted that the district welcomed over 50 new staff members, including 33 new teachers. He said that the opening convocation was amazing and that we are doing a lot of great things in the classrooms. “The first day across district was amazing,” said Hamlin “I encourage everyone to come out to support our athletic teams too.”

Superintendent Report – Hamlin said that the district enrollment was 1858 on the first day and they have added about 20 students per day since then. Today’s enrollment is at now at 1910.

Board accepted several information items, including: 2025-2026 Employee Handbook, 2025-2026 Campus Parent/Student Handbooks, and 2025-2026 Campus Testing Calendars and Assessment Data Board Reporting Schedule.

Board approved Texoma Council of Governments (TCOG) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Grandparents Program. Bailey Inglish and Finley Oates have done this program for many years.

Board approved a purchase over $50,000 for L.H. Rather Weight Room Equipment. District received 5 bids from 5 vendors. Board approved the vendor recommended by staff.

Pursuant to Texas Government Code section § 551.074, discussion of personnel matters pertaining to evaluations, duties, terminations, replacements, reassignments, hiring, and additions to the staff. Board stated agenda included discussion of Personnel, an update of the locally certified teachers under BISD's District of Innovation Plan, consideration of employment of Professional Personnel, and consideration of employment contracts of BISD Administrators.

Roberts then said the board would go back into Executive Session for Team of Eight Training and that staff could go home.
