Tioga, Texas -- The Dodd City Lady Hornets took on a pair of Class 3A programs in the silver bracket of the Tioga Volleyball Tournament, sweeping Howe in the semifinals before dropping a three-set heartbreaker to Pottsboro in the finals.

Against Howe, Dodd City held on for a tough 25-23 win in the first set. The Lady Hornets went on to earn a sweep with a 25-20 victory in the second set.

Addison Weeks put down 12 kills, Gracyn Shindler had 10 assists and Kenzi Freeman came up with 10 digs.

That win sent Dodd City into the silver bracket finals to face Pottsboro.

Pottsboro took the opener, 25-20, but Dodd City stormed back to post a 25-18 win in the second set.

The third set would determine the match and, in an extended thriller, Pottsboro edged Dodd City, 26-24.

Weeks knocked down 21 kills and Kayleigh McBrayer dished out nine assists.

Shindler got under a team-high 17 digs and Freeman was close behind with 16 digs. Weeks had 12 digs.

Kendyl Lindsey led Dodd City at the service line with six aces.

Weeks, Shindler and Kodi Dorau all had one block apiece.

The Lady Hornets (4-3) will host Boles on Tuesday, August 19.
