Bonham, Texas -- Volleyball fans got their money's worth in the season opener as the Leonard Lady Tigers and the Bonham Lady Warriors battled for five sets before Leonard clinched the match in an thrilling tiebreaker.

Bonham took a very competitive first set, 25-23, but Leonard answered with a 25-20 win in the second set.

It was Bonham with a 25-22 victory in the third set and once again Leonard responded with a 25-18 win to even up the match at 2-2.

Fans were on the edge of their seats in the tiebreaker, as they watched their teams trade points until Bonham and Leonard were all knotted up at 15-15 with the season opener on the line.

The Lady Tigers knocked down the final two points of the night and headed home victorious with a 3-2 win to open their 2025 schedule.

Leonard's Leah Stoy slammed down 13 kills to lead the Lady Tigers' attack. Madison Jones put down eight kills, Bella Neaville knocked down five kills, Avery Ross and Ava Flowers both finished with four kills, with Olivia Aylor and Riley Brown contributing two kills apiece.

Flowers dished out 36 assists to her Lady Tiger hitters.

Aylor came up with a dozen digs and Flowers was close behind with 11 digs.

Stoy and Neaville each had three aces.

Neaville was a force at the net with four blocks.

The Leonard Lady Tigers (1-0) will compete in the Detroit Volleyball Tournament on Thursday and Saturday, with a match in Leonard on Friday, August 15 against the Sam Rayburn Lady Rebels.
