Lewisville, Texas --  As we enter what is usually the hottest month of summer, Upper Trinity Regional Water District (Upper Trinity) is turning up the volume on water conservation with its Give a Drip campaign. Residents should follow local watering rules that limit outdoor watering to no more than two days per week or less and not between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Residents are also encouraged to sign Upper Trinity’s Pledge to Water Less at WaterLessYall.com

Helping drive the message home, the Town of Flower Mound recently released a music video asking residents to Give a Drip. The video is designed to entertain, educate, and inspire residents to conserve water. The video is already gaining attention for its clever lyrics and easy-to-remember conservation message. Watch the video here.

“We wanted to create something fun that grabs attention and encourages our community to be part of the solution,” said Melissa Demmitt, Communications Director for the Town of Flower Mound. “The Give a Drip theme gave us a great platform to deliver a serious message in a lighthearted and memorable way. We hope to reach and educate as many of our residents as possible on the importance of limiting outdoor watering.”

Upper Trinity, which supplies water to communities in Denton and Collin counties, launched its Water Less Y’all campaign in 2022 to inform residents across its service area about the urgent need to cut outdoor water use during the high-demand summer months. Outdoor irrigation accounts for more than half of residential water consumption in North Texas, much of which is wasted. By pledging to water no more than twice a week, residents help ensure there is enough water to meet the region’s needs now, and in the future, while keeping lakes full and lowering water bills.

The Pledge to Water Less Y’all provides free swag and drawings for prizes. Hundreds of people have signed the pledge, which can be found at WaterLessYall.com.

“Participation in the Pledge to Water Less reinforces that residents agree we must conserve our most valuable resource,” said Jason Pierce, Upper Trinity’s Director of Government Affairs and Communications. “Our campaign shows the power of community and creativity in tackling a serious issue, and Flower Mound’s video makes it fun and memorable.”

The Give a Drip campaign runs through September and is part of a broader effort to help the region adapt to harsh Texas summers and manage population growth. Residents interested in taking the pledge and accessing water-saving tips can visit Water Less Y’all.
