The trout fishing snapshots have been populating our photo file of late, we suppose, because that's where most of the good fishing is going on and where people are staying cool with that chilled air off the cold tailwaters that the trout inhabit.

The Spring River is not technically a "tailwater" like some of the places we've featured in photos during July, but nevertheless it is a cold-water stream where plenty of trout abound, along with smallmouth bass and more.

In the photo above, Miller Scott holds a terrific catch, a Spring River rainbow trout, while fishing recently with guide Mark Crawford. Kudos to Miller for the catch and to Mark for getting such a detailed and colorful photo from the river.
