McKinney, Texas -- The City of McKinney invites residents to help shape the future of local housing, neighborhoods, and community development through an upcoming public meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 5, and a community-wide housing survey.

These opportunities are part of the development of the city's draft 2025–2029 Consolidated Plan and 2025 Action Plan, which outline how McKinney will invest federal funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the HOME Investment Partnerships Program. These programs support affordable housing, neighborhood improvements, and services for low- to moderate-income individuals and families. The plans serve as a strategic framework to ensure these investments address the community's most pressing needs.

Tuesday, Aug. 5, City Hall, 401 E. Virginia St.

  • 2 – 6 p.m. Open House, Fitzhugh Event Hall
  • 6 p.m. Consolidated Plan Public Hearing during the City Council meeting, City Council Chambers

Residents can also participate in an online housing survey through Aug. 10. Survey responses will help identify local housing challenges and guide both long-term goals and immediate action steps that will be included in a subsequent Affordable Housing Strategy. The survey is available at McKinneyTexas.org/CDBGPlan.

"Resident input plays a critical role in shaping these plans and ensuring that the city's priorities reflect the real needs and experiences of the community," said Shirletta Best, Community Services Administrator. "By participating in these meetings or taking the survey, residents can directly influence how federal funding is used to support affordable and inclusive neighborhoods across McKinney."
