Sherman, Texas -- The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) officials have announced an upcoming full closure of westbound Peyton Street to US 75 northbound frontage road. The closure is scheduled from 7:00 a.m. on August 1, until 7:00 p.m. on August 2. The closure is needed for access to install storm drainage pipe across the intersection.

Commuters wishing to access Peyton Street can do so via Taylor Street. Traffic on Peyton Street will be detoured at Independence Drive onto Taylor Street. From there they can continue west and access the northbound frontage road and US 75.

During this period, TxDOT urges drivers to exercise caution. Motorists who travel frequently in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls, and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, car audio, or navigation systems. TxDOT also asks drivers to remain alert to road crews while navigating through the construction zone.
