Sherman, Texas -- On May 1, 2025, workers, immigrants, students, and families in Grayson County will join over 340 cities nationwide to honor the legacy of past labor struggles and demand public investment in our lives, not billionaires’ bank accounts. From farms in California, to classrooms across America, kitchens and restaurants to loading docks in Atlanta—this May Day, the many are organizing to take the country back from the few.
"We are protesting the billionaire takeover of America and demanding investment in our people," stated organizer Debra Rushing.
We are inspired by the legacy of labor and community movements of the past that fought for the eight-hour work day and five day work week. Building upon the protests against federal layoffs and reductions in government services and the more recent April 5th nationwide event, the May Day action is dedicated to fighting for a better future that prioritizes the needs of working families and their neighborhoods.
