McKinney, Texas (Sept. 21, 2023) – The City of McKinney has announced the opening of a new state-of-the-art terminal at McKinney Air Center, the city’s fixed-based operator (FBO) at McKinney National Airport.

"This new FBO terminal will help us compete with other world-class facilities that are vying for the lucrative dollars generated by the many corporate fleets pouring into Collin County and the larger Dallas area," said Mayor George Fuller. "Facilities like this will continue to increase the airport’s value as an economic driver in our region."

The new terminal features a modern design and includes amenities such as a conference room, pilot lounge, and a passenger waiting area. The FBO facility also offers a range of services, including fueling and aircraft storage.

“We are thrilled to open this new state-of-the-art terminal at McKinney Air Center,” said Airport Director Ken Carley. “The City of McKinney is committed to making McKinney National Airport a premier destination for corporate and general aviation. With the opening of the new FBO terminal, the city is well on its way to achieving that goal.”

The opening of the new FBO terminal is part of a larger effort by the City of McKinney to expand and modernize the airport. In recent years, the city has invested in infrastructure improvements, including runway expansions and the construction of new hangars.

The McKinney Air Center was rated among the top 10 percent service providers in the 2023 AIN FBO Survey: The Americas that was released in April. The McKinney Air Center also has the highest-ranking line service in Texas. McKinney Air Center was rated by AINreaders who evaluated thousands of aircraft handling facilities based on five categories: line service, passenger amenities, pilot amenities, facilities, and customer service.

City Council has made maximizing the development potential of McKinney National Airport one of the six pillars of the City Council Goals and Strategies. City Council approved the airport’s long-term master plan in 2018. The goal of a master plan is to provide the framework needed to guide future airport development that will allow the airport to keep pace with aviation growth and demand cost-effectively while also considering potential environmental and socioeconomic impacts.
