Bonham, Texas -- Andrea Holmes has painted the town in and around McKinney - and now, Bonham - with murals inside and outside shops along the square (Texas Flora and Fauna is 100’ and Hunter’s Wall commemorating a young local artist is 80’ long) and elsewhere. Her newest mural in Bonham is at 110 W. 5th St.

Holmes’ murals have become sought-out Instagram spots, tourism highlights and local community gathering spots. Her detailed art always captures the spirit of the location.

Known locally as the bird lady, she has painted hundreds of birds and sells her colorful bird originals and prints among her many other flora, fauna, and vintage-item artwork.  Her collection of 100 bird paintings graced the Patina Green entry wall and is now featured in McKinney’s Fair and Square Imports.

Holmes had to pivot completely during the covid shutdown, when her numerous shows, fairs and interior work evaporated. She began painting store windows around the McKinney square with encouraging words to lift community spirits. She quickly began receiving mural commissions  - and the rest is history. Andrea is a dedicated working artist whose glass (and paint can) is always half-full.

Holmes created Birdtober, an international online art challenge to paint birds daily during the month of October, and she participates in respected juried shows such as McKinney Arts and Bloom, Artscape at the Dallas Arboretum, and Pecan St Festival in Austin and more.

She was recently featured in the DMN and continues to accept commission work in the DFW Metroplex and beyond.

The work of Andrea Holmes always comes with a positive message.
