Sherman, Texas -- Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that the eastbound exit ramp on US 82 (Exit 642) that leads to US 75 will close temporarily on Jan. 26.

The closure is necessary for crews to complete construction of the US 82 eastbound frontage road and a new exit ramp. Motorists traveling eastbound on US 82 are advised to use the North Travis Street exit (Exit 641) and follow the eastbound frontage road to access US 75, officials said.

Message boards and detour signs will be in place to help direct travelers during the closure. Officials said the new ramp will be open to traffic and operational in about 1.5 months, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.

With this new phase of construction on US 75 travelers are advised to watch for road crews on the highway, expect some delays and plan their commutes in advance. This construction and any necessary temporary lane closures it creates are subject to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, officials said.

Motorists who frequently travel in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
