Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, a state and federally permitted non-profit organization in North Texas, has launched its new Raptor Education Outreach program.
Our outreach program features live owls, hawks and falcons. The educational presentations give children and adults the opportunity to see native Texas birds of prey at close proximity. The goal of the outreach program is to increase awareness and appreciation of the vital role that raptors play maintaining a healthy ecosystem.
We present programs about these majestic birds to people of all ages. The outreach presentations are available to public schools, private schools, home school groups, youth organizations and community groups throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area and surrounding counties.
Named after the tallgrass prairie that once covered more than 18,000 square miles of Texas from the Red River to San Antonio, Blackland Prairie Raptor Center was founded earlier this year to increase raptor rehabilitation and education resources available in North Texas and help meet the tremendous need for environmental education programs. Based in Fannin County, Blackland Prairie Raptor Center is proud to join existing organizations with the common goal of fostering better public understanding of the relationship between birds of prey and healthy ecosystems.
