Bonham, Texas -- Ruby Fay (Young) Lumpkin, 96, of Gun Barrel City, TX was born on March 4, 1925 in Goodlett, TX to Willis and Sadie Young. Mrs. Lumpkin passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021 at her residence.

Ruby married Odis Justin Lumpkin on December 23, 1941 in Quanah, TX; he preceded her in death on August 28, 2010. During World War II she was known as a part of the Rosie the Riveter. Ruby later worked for AT&T as a clerical. She enjoyed full time RVers, was an avid reader, and enjoyed crocheting.

Ruby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She loved her children, and all her grandchildren and spent as much time as she could with them. Ruby was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Ruby is survived by son-Larry Lumpkin and wife Susan of Austin, TX; daughter-Cheryl Lumpkin of Gun Barrel City, TX; grandchildren-David Gillespie, Justin Lumpkin and wife Amanda of Scurry, TX, Casey Lumpkin of Gun Barrel City, TX; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her spouse, she is preceded in death by her parents, son, Dennis Lumpkin, grandson, Matthew Lumpkin, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters.

Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Forest Grove Cemetery. John Salem will officiate.
