McKinney, Texas --  Language Learning Market, an EdTech marketplace & PaaS startup announced it would be expanding the company’s headquarters in McKinney. With a grant from the McKinney Economic Development Corporation’s (MEDC) Innovation Fund, the company plans to create 17 new, high-tech and executive jobs over the next three years, bringing their total number of employees to 20, with an average salary of $100,000.

The digital global platform connects parents and educators looking for the best learning resources in multiple languages. The marketplace connects buyers and sellers in 7,000 languages and dialects, allowing parents to easily find content for their kids, while sellers from educational resource companies, entrepreneurs and teachers are now empowered to reach their target customers.

Founded by Allison Monroe in 2021, Language Learning Market has launched at a pivotal time in history as the COVID-19 pandemic further reiterated the need for accessible language learning material to be easily purchased and sold. Data shows homeschooling is up 333% as 11% of parents are now homeschooling, up from 3.3% a short time ago before the pandemic began.

"This innovation center for the global education industry gives entrepreneurs and companies the opportunity to monetize their products, while being the world’s only one-stop-shop for parents to find high quality language learning content,” said Allison Monroe, Founder & CEO of Language Learning Market. “We’re empowering micro entrepreneurs to reach their customers, globally. We think of ourselves like the Etsy for education in all languages."

Language Learning Market seeks to source the best learning resources from around the world under one roof. The company is comprised of 3 platforms; an online marketplace for buying and selling educational resources, an industry directory of educational businesses and schools, and a global media network dedicated to education for all.

"I have worked and lived all over the world, and intentionally chose McKinney, Texas as our headquarters because of the city's commitment to economic development, innovation in technology and startups," remarked Monroe. "The MEDC Innovation Fund grant will allow us to focus on growing our customer base."

The MEDC has strategically focused its efforts on the technology and innovation economies by releasing their Innovation Fund in 2020. The fund will help the PaaS company with their expansion goals.

“We are excited to see Language Learning Market expand at a time where the education industry has undergone a rapid transformation brought on by the pandemic,” said Danny Chavez, Senior Vice President at MEDC. ”It’s incredible to support and work with a company, founded here in McKinney, that has created a platform that will be utilized globally. Allison and her team have been great to work with and have a collective vision to scale, we look forward to seeing the company’s growth and continuing to support female-founded startups & entrepreneurs,” said Chavez.

Language Learning Market will expand their headquarters at MillHouse McKinney, a non-profit aimed at raising awareness and improving business opportunities for small businesswomen in creative fields. MillHouse McKinney is located at the McKinney Cotton Mill (610 Elm St., McKinney, Texas 75069) and includes a creative co-working space for women to convene and create. Language Learning Market is a multinational company, headquartered in McKinney, with offices in Mexico, India and Jordan.

Language Learning Market is one of the many tech companies that have recently announced their expansion or relocation into McKinney via the Innovation Fund; other startups like CourMed, MyTelemedicine & LocuMatch also recently opened headquarters in the city.

MEDC's Innovation Fund was created with startups like Language Learning Market in mind. The mission is to spur and accelerate the growth of innovation-focused companies at various levels of revenue and funding stages during the startup life cycle. It is designed to grow with the company as it scales, supplementing growth during the timeliest need in the startup lifecycle, seed or few customers, to Series A and or a more extensive customer base.
