Bonham, Texas -- Funeral services for Jimmie D. McKelva will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2004 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Chapel in Bonham. Officiating will be Bro. Lyn Holly and interment will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery in Telephone, Texas. Mr. McKelva passed away Saturday morning at his residence.
He was born December 5, 1932 in Telephone, Texas the son of the late James Hamlett and Ethel Herald McEwen McKelva. He was married to Betty Doris Marcom McKelva and she preceded him in death on March 5, 1995. He later married Ruth Farley McKelva on march 7, 1996 in Bonham. Mr. McKelva was retired from Campbell Soup Company in Paris, Texas and afterward he owned and operated a small engine repair shop. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart. Mr. McKelva was a member of the Boyd Baptist Church.
Jimmie D. McKelva is survived by his wife, Ruth McKelva of Bonham; daughter, Phyllis Berger & husband Don of Sherman, Texas; sons, Alan McKelva & wife Mary Yetta of Gunter, Texas and Chris McKelva & wife Janet of Ravenna, Texas; grandchildren, Cody Berger and wife Julie, Jamie Morris and husband Grant, Reece Mckelva, Michael McKelva, Colby McKelva and Karli McKelva; great-grandson, Micah Berger; step-daughter, Glenda Hackney and husband John of Trenton; brothers, Tommie McKelva of Atoka, Tennessee and Bill McKelva of Denton, Texas; and sister, Amateen Clock of Grand Junction, Colorado.
Pallbearers will be Alan McKelva, Chris McKelva, Don Berger, Cody Berger, Reece McKelva, Grant Morris, Michael McKelva and Colby McKelva.
