McKinney, Texas -- Music is an important part of supporting someone living with dementia. Kirk Jay, Season 15 finalist for television's hit series “The Voice” wants to be part of helping others and will perform in concert for resident, families, and team members at Villagio of McKinney on August 24 at 3:00 p.m.

“Music helps people on the dementia journey connect with the present, or in some cases reconnect with a warm memory from the past,” says Executive Director Becca Allford.

The idea first sprang up after watching a video of Jay performing for children at a hospital in his home state of Alabama. Allford reached out to Jay’s agent and received an immediate response, “YES!! HE WOULD LOVE TO! Kirk is always willing to help out!”

Jay will perform later that evening at a private anniversary celebration for the Allford family. They are huge fans, plus they have a lot to celebrate this year; in May Allford’s husband and three dogs were almost lost in a flash flood near their home, the McKinney Fire Department rescued all four. The Allford family is counting their blessings this anniversary!
