Garland, Texas -- Only one team stands between the Lindsay Lady Knights and a state championship.

In the UIL Class 2A State Tournament semifinals, Lindsay overpowered Thorndale in straight sets, 25-8, 25-15 and 25-16.

As Thorndale can verify, Lindsay has a lot of weapons in the arsenal of head coach Bridget Anderle. In the semifinals, Makenzie Fleitman led the Lady Knights with 11 kills and six aces, but Ashley Fleitman put down eight kills, Brianna Craigie came up big with seven kills, Rachel Metzler slammed down six kills, while Macey Ott turned in an outstanding defensive performance with six blocks.

That sets up a showdown between Beckville (41-8) and Lindsay (41-3) in the state championship match set for 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas.

Beckville will bring the enthusiasm of a team making its maiden appearance in the big show.

For a perennial powerhouse Lindsay volleyball program that worked their way to the finals in 2015, this is a chance to finish the job and bring the state championship trophy home to Lindsay.

Lindsay stats vs. Thorndale were:
Ashley Fleitman 8 kills, 6 digs, 14 assists
Makenzie Fleitman 6 aces, 11 kills, 2 blocks, 7 digs
Kaylee Colwell 2 aces, 15 assists
Rachel Metzler 3 aces, 6 kills, 6 digs
Olivia Hertel 2 aces, 8 digs
