Event included a traditional Push-In Ceremony
McKinney, Texas -- The McKinney Fire Department (MFD) is growing towards the future. Today, firefighters, neighbors and city leaders were on hand for the dedication of Station #9. The city’s first new fire station in seven years, 4900 Summit View Dr., will serve communities in the northwest part of McKinney.
The facility contains the latest technology and includes training enhancements like a rappelling area and confined space training that will be used by all McKinney firefighters. The ribbon was cut today by three of the Captains who will lead the new station: Captains Jared Turner, Desiree Novatzyk and James Floyd.
The dedication also included a traditional ‘Push-In’ ceremony that dates back more than a century. Today, FD leaders pushed in a restored 1920s fire engine that once served in the McKinney area.

“The City of McKinney’s population has increased nearly 365 percent over the last 20 years,” said McKinney Fire Chief Daniel Kistner. “The fire department is keeping up with that growth with state-of-the-art facilities like Station #9.”
