She was born on April 1, 1915 in Bonham, Texas, the daughter of John Bascomb Smith and Emily Jane Neil Smith. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bonham and enjoyed painting and foiling. For 4 years, Ellen worked with Sam Rayburn in Washington. She worked for the US Government Farm Bureau for 2 years and at the Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center for a short time as an Executive Accountant Secretary. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David Alexander Smith and granddaughter, Dana Anne Finch.
She is survived by:

Grandchildren: Caryn and Randy Jones of Paris and grandson-in-law: Scott Finch of Wichita Falls and Perri and Michael Lawrence of Flower Mound,
Great Grandchildren: Christopher Jones and Katy, Brittany and Frank Miller, Danielle Jones, Hannah and Seth Walker, Cody and Lauren Finch, Wes and Haley Finch, Luke and Erin Finch, Audrey Lawrence, Ben Lawrence, and David Lawrence
Great -Great Grandchildren: Michael Jones, Anna Jones, Jacob Jones, Josiah Walker, Harper Finch, Eli Finch, and Leighton Grace Finch and soon to be baby Emerson Finch
The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home Chapel from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until service time on Wednesday, January 3, 2018
