Arlington, Texas -- Clovis D. Burchfield passed from this life to meet his Lord and those loved ones who have gone before on December 22, 2017. Clovis was a loving husband, dad, granddad, brother, uncle and friend.

Clovis was born in the community of Whitewright, Texas, on November 8, 1935, to Clifford and Megella (Stillwell) Burchfield. The fifth of the eight Burchfield children: five sons, Virgil, Clifton, C.B. Clovis and Wayne; and three daughters, Margie, Ellen and Barbara. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his brothers, Virgil, Clifton and C.B.; and sisters Marjorie Hughes and Ellen Burns.

Clovis graduated Trenton High School in 1955 as a star athlete in basketball and baseball. He married his high school and life time sweetheart, Betty (Griffin) Burchfield October 29, 1955. God gave two sons, Cary and Cyle, to Burch and Betty, to whom he was lovingly devoted and forever proud and thankful for each of them and their families.

Clovis served in the U.S. Army for four years plus 2 years in the Reserve. He retired from Raytheon in Garland, TX in 1993 after 37 1/2 years of service.

His life's focus held fast to his faith, as did his love and devotion to his family and friends.

Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife, Betty; sons and families: Cary and Dalia (Alaniz) Burchfield, children Paige LaShae and Kari Kathlene of Maryland; Cyle and Ellen (Trimmer) Burchfield, children Baylee and Kevin of Arlington, TX; brother Wayne Burchfield and wife Charlotte, Lake Fork, Alba, TX, sister Barbara and husband Bert Frey, Tyler, TX, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Pallbearers are Larry Burchfield, Mike Burchfield, David Burchfield, Scott Burchfield, Mike Bowen and Jeff Griffin. Honorary pallbearers are Pete Burchfield and Dwight Cox.

The family will receive friends between 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas. The "Celebration of Life" Services will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church-Mansfield, 777 N. Walnut Creek Drive, Mansfield, TX, 76063. Burial will follow in the Garden of Prayer, Moore Cemetery, Arlington.
