Demand for hangar space at the airport continues to soar

McKinney, Texas  – McKinney National Airport is celebrating the completion of a new 10,000-square-foot hangar. The hangar will accommodate transient aircraft, from single-engine aircraft to medium-size jet aircraft for either long-term or short-term stays. The airport secured contracts to completely fill the new hangar before construction began.

“More pilots are learning that McKinney National Airport is an excellent option for corporate jets and we are working hard to keep up with the demand that the growing Collin County area and larger DFW metroplex is experiencing,” said Deputy City Manager Jose Madrigal.

In 2017, the airport saw a 16 percent increase in revenue, an 11.2 percent increase in flight operations and 2.2 percent increase in fuel sales.

Recently, the City of McKinney announced they have entered into a public-private partnership with Western LLC for a $16 million construction project at the McKinney National Airport that will update and expand its facilities and include a new state-of-the-art fixed-base operator (FBO) terminal and an additional 40,000-square-foot hangar. Construction is expected to begin this spring and will take approximately 12-18 months.
