Bonham, Texas -- Funeral services for Gussie Ellen Smith, 82, of Ivanhoe, Texas will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Ivanhoe Baptist Church.  Bro. Phillip Mathis and Bro Dean Williams will officiate. Interment will follow at Arledge Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Gussie Smith went to be with her Lord on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Texoma Medical Center Bonham Hospital.

Gussie Ellen (Robbins) Smith was born on November 13, 1935 in Bells, Texas to parents, Oliver Alexander Robbins and Matilda “Mae” (Taylor) Robbins. She attended Bells School. Gussie met and married Alfred H. Smith, Sr. on December 22, 1955. She worked as a teacher’s aide and in the Post Office of Ivanhoe when it was located in Eller’s Grocery.  Gussie retired from Eller’s Grocery in 1998. She enjoyed crafts and woodwork and was a member of Ivanhoe Baptist Church.

She is survived by sons, Alfred H. Smith, Jr. and wife Mary; John O. Smith and wife Laurie; James L. Smith and wife Amy; and Jerry P. Smith; daughter, Sherri Alexander and finance Royce Baker; grandchildren, Brandon A. Smith and wife Jenn; Barrett T. Smith and partner John; Micheal C. Smith; Erin W. Ash and husband Brandon, James L. Smith and wife Stacy; Brian J. Smith; Will K. Alexander and Jade E. Alexander; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, O. A Robbins and wife Ann; Claude E. Robbins and wife Lea; and Rickey D. Robbins and wife Joan; sisters, Percilla A. Tadlock and Belinda S. Hall and husband Rickey Doyle; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great nephews.

Gussie was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Alfred Smith, her parents and aunts and uncles.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bart Tadlock, Rusty Hall, Kevin Morse, Landan Morse, Chance Morse, Michael Tadlock and Justin Robbins. Honorary pallbearers will be the Women’s Class of Ivanhoe Baptist Church.

Family visitation will be Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Bonham, Texas from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
