“Jay R” Leroy Winfert Morris, Jr. was born in East St. Louis, MO on July 3, 1951 to Leroy Winfert and Naomi (Robertson) Morris, Sr. He married Della (Earnhart) Morris on January 3, 1998 in Bonham, TX. Jay R attended St. Louis Christian Academy School, he was an ordained minister, and had a degree in education and psychology. He worked in several different area of business management; he also worked as a correctional officer for Texas Department of Corrections and was a member of Boyd Baptist Church.

He is survived by wife, Della Morris of Bonham, TX; son, Daron W. Morris of Sherman, TX; son, Kennon Morris of Sherman, TX; grandchildren, Garrett Morris, Zadrian Morris, Andronica Morris, and Amarise Morris; father, Leroy Morris, Sr. of Alhambra, IL; sister, Linda Kay Wilson of Mt. Olive, IL; brother, Stephen Morris of Sherman, TX; and sister, Brenda Studnicki of Bethalto, IL.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Naomi Morris.

Family visitation will be on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
