Bonham -- At a time when communities across the nation are engaged in a conversation regarding law enforcement policies, communities across North Texas are stepping up to "Back the Blue."
Legend Bank sponsored a luncheon to honor local law enforcement officers Thursday, July 14 in Bonham and the event was hosted by The Breakfast Stop. Bill Yarbro, President of Legend Bank in Bonham, welcomed a crowd that included representatives of Bonham Police Department, Fannin County Sheriff's Office, Department of Public Safety, and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Game Wardens.
"We appreciate you so much," Mr. Yarbro told local law enforcement officers. "We all appreciate what you do for us."
Legend Bank employees assisted as The Breakfast Stop owners Wayne and Brenda Moore served the officers.
Among those on hand to express appreciation to the men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting others were State Representative Larry Phillips, Fannin County Judge Spanky Carter, Bonham Mayor Pro Tem H. Compton, Bonham City Manager Sean Pate, Jason Ross (District Director for Congressman John Ratcliffe), Rebekah Holt (representing State Senator Bob Hall), and Dave Struchtemeyer, Director of Finance for the City of Bonham.
"I feel that, in our county, we have a lot of support," stated Bonham Police Chief Mike Bankston, "and it's events like this that emphasize it. We certainly have our detractors, but in our county they are far outnumbered by the people who support local law enforcement."
The Fannin County Sheriff's Office echoed those sentiments.
