Washington, D.C. -- Community Health Service Agency, Inc. (CHSA) met with Congressman John Ratcliffe, Texas District 4, and his senior staff member, Jamie Baker, on March 17, 2016 at Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. CHSA leadership and board member, pictured below, attended the National Association of Community Health Centers: Policy & Issues Forum where they joined decision makers and public health leaders to focus on the nation’s healthcare.

Community Health Centers, such as CHSA, are a vital resource to patients across the United States and Texas. Many residents are unaware of CHSA and the Health Centers in their region. Some forego the care they need or utilize Hospital Emergency Rooms for general health care—making it expensive for both the patient and taxpayers.

CHSA provides primary medical, dental, pediatrics, women’s and basic behavioral health, and additional services such as in-house labs, pharmacy, translation and social services and more. Based on family size and income, CHSA assists both the insured and uninsured patients with the quality care they need at a more affordable price, through every stage of their life.

Furthermore, CHSA’s outreach and enrollment staff are able to assist in applying for Medicaid, CHIP, Food Stamps and TANF (Temporary Assistant for Needy Families) by appointment. Through thick or thin, with insurance or without, they’re there for you.

The meeting with Congressman Ratcliffe and his senior staff discussed the future of Community Health Centers in his district and CHSA as a whole, and was described as positive and informative. CHSA presented Congressman Ratcliffe with a custom book about their non-profit organization—providing insight into the benefits that their eight health centers across five counties deliver, how CHSA contributes to these communities, and highlighting the voices of their patients throughout. In 2015 alone, CHSA saw over 23,500 patients through more than 70,500 visits.
