A Copper Canyon, Texas, resident, Denise Remfert, has been named November Photographer of the Month at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge.  Remfert, who also received an award for First Place, Artistic Division, in the 2015 Hagerman Nature Photography Contest, will have a virtual album of twelve photos featured on the Friends of Hagerman web gallery, friendsofhagerman.com/gallery, this month.

Remfert says, “My interest in photography began around the time digital cameras became popular.  My equipment was Nikon until recently. Now, I have switched to the lighter mirrorless system and use my Fuji X-T1 almost all the time. Nature is my favorite subject.  I appreciate that Hagerman Refuge attracts so many migratory birds.  I also appreciate the Friends of Hagerman and all that they do.”

Photographer of the Month is just one of the photo programs offered at the Refuge.  The Friends sponsor a Facebook Page and welcome posting of photos taken at the Refuge. On November 21, the Nature Photography Club will hold its last meeting for this year, at 10:00 a.m., in the Visitor Center Meeting Room.  Photographers have been invited to submit photos, in landscape format, for the Friends website home page, and selections representative of the Refuge will be made at the meeting.

Chair Ron Varley says, “Club meetings are open to anyone interested in nature photography; visitors may attend free of charge to see if the club is for them; nominal dues for members, who are encouraged to bring friends.”
