Bonham -- At a special meeting Monday evening, June 1, Bonham City Council announced that Sean Pate had accepted an offer to become the next city manager, following the pending retirement of Bill Shipp.
Pate, 37, comes to Bonham from Gladewater, where he has served as city manager since 2010. Before coming to Gladewater, Pate was city administrator for Balcones Heights, Poteet, Clarendon and Dalworthington Gardens.
Pate was not in Bonham for the announcement because Gladewater City Council met Monday night to accept Pate's resignation and to discuss who would serve as interim city manager.

Bonham Mayor Roy Floyd said Pate's first day would be July 13.
Bonham's retiring city manager will assist Pate to ensure a smooth transition.
