"...she is a great mix of everything great about Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, and Diana Krall … but something even more fresh and current for today’s world.”
-- Chuck Beard, East Side Blog, Nashville

On Friday, November 21, '14, 7-9 pm, Harmony House Concerts introduces this native-born Texas singer-songwriter, Allie Farris, who currently lives in Nashville and is quickly becoming a "rising star."  To get a taste of Allie's music, visit her website, www.AllieFarris.com, where you can see videos of her in performance.  This will whet your appetite to hear more of Allie's songs "live" here at Harmony House, located at Wildscape Acres near Ravenna, TX (just 10 miles north of Bonham and 65 miles NE of Dallas).  She's a masterful pianist, who sometimes performs cover songs, like "Natural Woman," but mostly shares her own songwriting style.  See more in her "bio" below.

To make reservations for this upcoming, "note"worthy show, just call 903/583-2661.  Leave your contact information (preferably an e-mail address) and how many seats you wish to reserve.  The suggested donation is $15 per person.  To prepay and confirm your reservation, please make your check out to Allie Farris and mail to Faye Wedell; P.O. Box 812; Bonham, TX 75418, to be received by Nov. 19th.  Anyone with a prepaid reservation who has to cancel can get their payment back, if you call the above phone number by this same date.  Reservations can also be paid for at the door, but please respect the artist and the hosts of Harmony House by showing up.  Those who "no-show" will still need to pay for reservations, unless you call to cancel.

Allie will play two 45-minute sets with a 30-minute intermission to allow guests to mix and mingle, to get personally acquainted with Allie, and to enjoy the treats and bottomless cups of coffee, tea, and punches provided by hosts, Faye & Scott.  There will be a basket on the breakfast room table for any optional $1 cash donations to help defray expenses.  Harmony House sits amidst a meadow surrounded by woodlands like a natural amphitheater, and the reclaimed vintage home is ideal for friendly, community-oriented gatherings.  Check us out at www.WildscapeAcres.com.  If you need directions, just ask  when making reservations...they can be sent by e-mail, given by phone, or a physical address will be given to you.

There will be no Potluck Dinner before the show.  Guests are asked to please bring some "fingerfood snack/treat" to place on various table provided in Harmony House for your enjoyment throughout the show.  Complimentary bottomless cups of coffee, tea, and punches will be provided by the hosts, Faye & Scott.

After the concert, there will be a Song Circle in the dining room, for those who wish to "jam"....bring your instruments and plan to share your music!  Some prefer to listen or to sing-along to familiar tunes.  Allie will be staying overnight, so perhaps she'll feel like adding some piano accompaniment for others.

Allie's "bio":

Texas-native Allie Farris (Age 24) moved to Nashville in January 2011 to pursue her dream of becoming a full-time singer/songwriter and pianist. Over three years later, she's well on her way to turning that dream into a reality, one tour, one show, one contest at a time.

Since living in Nashville, she's recorded and released two EPs and is currently in post-production on a third project, her first full-length album. 2011's EP "You Make Me Smile" was recorded with Nashville's Rachel Loy, and features songs that Allie had written primarily during her brief stay at Boston's Berklee College of Music in the fall of 2010. After a spurt of new writing in 2012, she spent much of her non-touring time in 2013 working on a new 6-song project with producer Ben Jackson, entitled "EP", released in March 2014. Finally, the upcoming full-length album is the result of another prolific writing period in 2013, and a bold idea - record an album from start to finish in a live club setting with an all-star band of Nashville players. That recording session came to pass in November 2013, and plans are to release the album later in 2014.

While not in the studio, Allie is typically on the road, driving from town to town, gig to gig, meeting lots of new friends and supporters of her music along the way. In addition to her frequent stops at private house concerts, she's played at venues like the Bluebird Cafe in TN, Club Passim and The Iron Horse in MA, the Kessler Theater and Saxon Pub in TX, the Blue Door in OK, the House of Blues in CA, Godfrey Daniels in PA, and the Rockwood Music Hall in NY. She has also been featured at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Fayetteville Roots Festival, Rocky Mountain Folks Fest, and many more.

She's shared the stage with John Fullbright, Michael Fracasso, Patrice Pike, Eliza Gilkyson, David Wilcox, Gabe Dixon, Jimmy LaFave, Sara Hickman, Emily Elbert, Seth Glier, Beth Wood, Robby Hecht, Kate Klim, Grace Pettis, and Natalie Gelman - with many more to come. She's particularly proud of her association with Dixon, which has resulted in a double-handful of co-written songs, including three off the latest EP, on which he also sings harmony vocals.
