On Saturday, August 30, the Creative Arts Center will present a workshop with well-known portrait artist Gregory Conlin of Denton. "The Principles of Free Hand Drawing - A Methodical Approach to Proportion, Tone and Composition, As Applied to the Portrait and Still Life" will be taught in black and white with graphite, charcoal and/or pastel. The cost of the workshop is $65 and a supply list is available upon request. Advance registration is required with payment. 

Gregory Conlin has been teaching art since 1983 and has found his methods often produce immediate results. Gregory believes one of the most important aspects in success is the desire to learn and "the creative use of technique....ability can be acquired even at a later age, with the right information and a modicum of determination and perseverance."

Though he has drawn and painted all his life, he specializes in portraits and is often requested as a sketch artist in the courtroom and at special events. Among his many achievements, Greg created the Wall of Portraits for the Central Division Police Station of the Dallas Police Department. Since 1992, he has worked as a courtroom artist for numerous news agencies, including CNN, Fox News Network and several local network affiliates in Dallas.
