Bonham -- Kwik Chek/McCraw Oil recently hosted their nineteenth annual charity golf tournament at Webb Hill Country Club. This marked the sixth year that CASA was selected as the recipient of the tournament proceeds. This year’s tournament raised $52,000 for Texas CASA and the dozen local CASA programs that are located in the same communities as Kwik Chek and McCraw Oil locations.

Bill Wilson is the president of McCraw Oil and serves on the board of the local CASA program, the Fannin County Children’s Center. His wife Roxanne is a CASA volunteer.

"McCraw Oil/Kwik Chek has always recognized the value of supporting our local communities, and we know firsthand how important the work of CASA is. It's our honor to support CASA's efforts to advocate for foster children in Texas," said Wilson.

In six years, this charity tournament has raised a grand total of $271,000 for CASA. “We are delighted to benefit from this effort for so many years,” said Sandy Barber, director of the Children’s Center. “This support will help provide trained volunteer advocates for children in foster care.”

When home is no longer deemed to be safe and children are removed from their homes, CASA is assigned to speak up for the child and insure their educational, medical and mental health needs are being met. Most importantly, CASA advocates for the child to find a permanent, safe home as quickly as possible. To learn more about becoming a CASA in Texas, go to www.becomeacasa.org.
