The Sam Rayburn House Museum will host an open house on Saturday, June 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The open house will include a display of artifacts on loan to the Museum from the Eisenhower Birthplace State Historic Site in Denison.

The Sam Rayburn House Museum opened a new exhibit, “Mr. Sam and President Eisenhower” in April 2014. The exhibit takes a closer look at the relationship between the two men, both politically and socially.

The artifacts on loan to the museum for the June 28 open house will include Eisenhower’s campaign materials, photos, and a Look magazine from November 4, 1952 featuring “Ike” and Adlai Stevenson on the cover. These artifacts are part of the collections at the Eisenhower Birthplace State Historic Site.

The Eisenhower Birthplace is the 1870s era home in Denison, Texas where Dwight D. Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890. Today, the home and surrounding grounds are operated by the Texas Historical Commission as a historic site. Visitors can take guided tours of the period-furnished home.

Along with a new display of artifacts, the open house on June 28 will also include free admission, themed tours and refreshments.
The Sam Rayburn House Museum tells the real story of Sam Rayburn, one of the most powerful and influential politicians of the 20th century, in his authentic 1916 home. Preserved as a period time capsule, the two-story home contains all original Rayburn furnishings.
