Make plans now to wear blue and come to Simpson Park on April 9 for “Stand Up for Kids.”   This annual event hosted by the Fannin County Children’s Center is designed to be a free, family fun day.  Activities will run from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9 at Simpson Park in Bonham, across from I.W. Evans and L.H. Rather schools.

The first 400 kids to arrive will get an Activity List.  As they participate in the games and other activities, they will get their list checked off.  Once they have completed at least 10 activities, they can turn it in for a goodie bag with prizes and other items.

Activities will include a petting zoo from Rancho Condarco and Bouncy House & Obstacle Course, courtesy of the Children's Center and ABC Clown Around Party Rentals.  The City of Bonham will have a fire truck and police car for kids to look at and sit in.  Trenton High School students in FCCLA and Leadership Team will be running their fishing game again this year.  Bonham High School students in National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society will be running games, as will Kwik Chek, Fannin Peace Project, Fannin County Family Crisis Center, Morning Star Academy and Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Office.  Guardians of Children and Bikers Against Child Abuse will bring their motorcycles out for the kids to look at and sit on.

There will be free popcorn, courtesy of Fannin County Co-op and free bottled water provided by Legend Bank.  Fannin Bank and Brookshire’s are donating hot dogs and the Bonham Police Department will be cooking them up.

This event is organized by the Children’s Center as part of their observance of Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month.  For more information, go to www.fanninccc.org.
