The Local Bois d'Arc Fannin County Chapter of Master Naturalist is seeking entries for the largest bois d'arc tree in Fannin County.

The top five trees will be recognized at the Fannin County Fair this fall.

Deadline for submissions is June 1.

Contestants wishing to enter a large Fannin County bois d'arc tree are required to measure the tree's circumference 4.5 feet above the ground and then contact the committee at 972-571-2434 or email mahlonmccall20@gmail.com.

USDA Biologist Randy Moore teaches Bois d'Arc chapter Master Naturalists how to use a stick and the principles of an equilateral triangle to determine the height of a tree. Rachel Van Citters studies the method.

After the find is reported, members of the Bois d'Arc chapter will take more formal measurements of your tree to determine its overall rating.
