Plano -- They say the way to man's heart is through his stomach and the same principle seems to apply to the French village featured in The Baker's Wife, showing Friday and Saturday, April 11-12 at Wingspan Advisors Theatre in Plano.
This beautiful musical by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell, Pippin) is about bickering residents of a rural village in Provence, France who have been without a baker for seven weeks. But one day the feuding stops as the heavenly scent of homemade bread fills the air and the village finally finds peace and contentment in the new baker, Aimable, and his strikingly attractive young wife, Genevieve.
However, when Genevieve is lured away by a handsome young gigolo, the middle-aged baker loses all zest for life and baking. When he refuses to bake, the villagers must work as a team to bring Aimable and Genevieve back together.
Starring Katie Moyes-Williams, Bill Jenkins, Lucia Welch, Hank Henry, Suzanna Fox, Shane Strawbridge, Zak Reynolds, Hunter Lewis, Emily Haynes, Preston Isham, Vanessa Kenney, Abigail Palmgren, Dominic Pecikonis, Ben Phillips, Juliette Talley and Collin Phillips.
