Region C Water Planning Group to hold public meeting Monday, March 31 at Trinity River Authority

The Region C Water Planning Group (RCWPG) will hold a public meeting 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at Trinity River Authority Central Wastewater Treatment Plant, 6500 W. Singleton Blvd., Grand Prairie, TX 75212 as part of the regional water planning process in North Central Texas.

The RCWPG is currently working to develop an updated 2016 Region C Water Plan that includes recommended water management strategies to meet the region’s water supply needs through 2070.

Key action items for the meeting include:

Considering approval of a letter to the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) requesting use of safe yield to determine available supply from Tarrant Regional Water District reservoirs
Ratifying certain contract amendments between the TWDB and the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD), and considering authorization for NTMWD to amend its current contract with consultants accordingly
Considering revision of Region C-approved demand projections to include demand for DFW International Airport
Considering appointment of a Region C subcommittee to work on project prioritization for State Water Implementation Fund for Texas (SWIFT) funding

Discussion items include:

Prioritization of projects in the 2011 Region C Water Plan for SWIFT funding purposes
The TWDB’s proposed resolution of the interregional conflict between the 2011 Region C and Region D Regional Water Plans

The RCWPG is one of 16 regional water planning groups selected by the TWDB to help develop a comprehensive state water plan for Texas over the next 50+ years. Each water planning group is responsible for preparing and adopting a regional water plan for its area. The RCWPG is made up of 22 members representing a variety of interest groups. Region C includes all or part of 16 counties in North Central Texas: Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Fannin, Freestone, Grayson, Henderson (Trinity River Basin portion), Jack, Kaufman, Navarro, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant and Wise.
