Bonham -- After a whirlwind of activity for five days, the sounds at Powder Creek Park Playground changed from the whine of power tools to the squeals of happy children making their first tour of the sprawling playground.

Despite a work stoppage Saturday afternoon due to rain, Powder Creek Park Playground opened on schedule Sunday, March 16, 2014, thanks to the dogged determination of the dedicated volunteers who smiled as children scrambled through the playground Sunday.

One volunteer likened the experience to childbirth -- a very difficult experience, but when it was finally over she said she was looking at the most beautiful playground ever!

Approximately 300 volunteers contributed 3,600 man hours to make this dream come true.
