Thanks to a little extra muscle supplied by Atmos, Home Depot, McCraw Oil, Cigna and Bonham Fire Department, work at Powder Park Creek Playground got off to an impressive start Wednesday morning.

Local volunteers are still needed for all three shifts as this project shifts into high gear.  The first shift works from 8:00 a.m. until noon.  Lunch break is set for noon-12:30 p.m. Second shift works from 12:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Dinner break is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m.  Third shift works from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.  Only three full days of work remain because plans call for a grand opening 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16.

"The volunteers from Atmos, Home Depot, McCraw Oil, Cigna and Bonham Fire Department were all a huge help," remarked Sandy Barber. "We got a lot accomplished but we still have lots to do in order to be done in time for the grand opening on Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. We really hope we can get a lot of folks out tomorrow (Thursday), whether or not they already signed up and no matter how long they can stay. Even an hour or two would be greatly appreciated!"

Volunteers have raised approximately $117,000 of the $121,000 needed, but fundraising continues, as well.

"We only have 44 pickets left to sell!" exclaimed Barber. "They are going quickly! We need to sell them all soon so there is time to get the routing done and the fence installed around the playground."
