McKinney -- A witty script, a talented cast and an awkward dilemma should be the recipe for an evening of laughter when McKinney Repertory Theater presents the world premier of World Wide Widow on Friday, March 7 at McKinney Performing Arts Theater.
With their only child, Erica, headed off to college, Scott and Beth are anxiously contemplating the benefits of an empty nest. But Scott's dad has just passed away and his mother, Evelyn, who lives just across the street, is driving the family to distraction with her constant visits.
When Scott hatches a plan to introduce his newly widowed mother to the World Wide Web, it is a tangled web he weaves.
This is local theater at its best, with an original script by Chuck Costanzo, subtle direction by Jacob Correll and a cast of area favorites that include Stephanie Kelly in the featured role as Evelyn, the World Wide Widow; Dale Gutt portrays her son, Scott; Jean Roberts is Beth, Scott's wife, and Morgan Bond plays Scott and Beth's college-bound daughter, Erica. The versatile Correll doubles as Robert and Joshua LaBry is cast as T-Bone.
The plot is believable and the actors bring it to life, making this a wonderful example of well-crafted entertainment the entire family will enjoy.
Performances of World Wide Widow set for are 8:00 p.m. March 14-15, with a 2:30 p.m. matinee March 16. Tickets are $17 per person with discounts for seniors, students and children.
