McKinney, Texas -- The world premiere of a comedy about the frustrations between the generations when it comes to technology hits the stage in McKinney. World Wide Widow, presented by McKinney Repertory Theatre (MRT), will delight audiences of all ages in the Courtroom Theatre at the McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC). Performances are 8 p.m. March 7-8 and 14-5 and a matinee at 2:30 p.m. March 16. Tickets are $17 per person with discounts for seniors, students and children.
Written by Chuck Costanzo, World Wide Widow features characters and situations everyone can relate to. The title character, Evelyn, doesn’t drive and is recently widowed. She spends most of her time at her son and daughter-in-law’s house which is located directly across the street.
Evelyn’s son, Scott, frustrated by his mother’s frequent surprise visits, comes up with a plan to purchase her a computer to occupy her time. Backfiring plans, frustrations and surprises result in a side-splitting play about life today.
Veteran director Jacob Correll has assembled a fabulous cast for the play which is the winner of MRT’s international new play competition. Several MRT favorites return to the stage. Dale Gutt, seen recently in A Christmas Carol, portrays Scott; Jean Roberts, most recently seen in The (Female) Odd Couple, portrays Beth the daughter-in-law; Stephanie Kelly, seen in The Curse of an Aching Heart, brings her interpretation of the widow, Evelyn; Morgan Bond is granddaughter, Erica; Joshua LaBry is featured as T-Bone; and Jacob Correll steps in as Robert.
