Edd Elbert Morriss, Jr. died Friday, December 20, 2013. Born in Telephone, Texas, April 18, 1928, to Connie Lummus Morriss and Edd Elbert Morriss, Sr., he grew up in Telephone and Bonham, Texas.

Graduating from Bonham High School, where he played clarinet in the band, he attended The University of North Texas and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

After college, his business associations began with Ben E. Keith Co. Then his banking experiences included Time Credit Dept. of Republic National Bank, Assistant Cashier at American Bank and Trust, Assistant Vice President and Vice President at First Citizens Bank and Vice President at Southwest Bank.

In 1953, he married his college sweetheart Mary Virginia Harris, and they have resided in Duncanville ever since. Their daughter, Martha Annette, was born in 1964.

Edd was a member and secretary of Duncanville's first Lions Club. He then joined White Rock Lions Club and the Optimist Club. He has been a long time member of Duncanville United Methodist Church and a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Predeceased by his parents, sisters Jo Etta York and Adaline Merrell and brother Gene Douglas Morriss. Edd is survived by wife, Mary Morriss; daughter, Martha Lopez (Robert); granddaughters, Lauren Pyeatt (Michael)and Lacey (Dowlearn) Danny and great-granddaughters, Annie and Jane.

Also surviving are a sister, Margaret Collins; brothers, Lee Roy and James Howard Morriss.

Visitation at First United Methodist Church, December 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.; service at 11:00 am at 403 S. Main St., Duncanville, TX .
