Leonard, Texas -- A graveside service for Mr. John Thomas Bassett, 87, of Leonard is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 2, 2013 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Mr. Bassett was born October 16, 1926 in New York.  His parents were Henry T. and Ethel M. Middaugh.  He attended college at New York State, was a member of the Baptist Church and served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army.  He passed away at his residence Tuesday August 27, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He is survived by his grandson:  Brian Hudgins of Leonard and his two great-grandsons, Eric and Carl Hudgins of Leonard.
