City of McKinney announces Assistant to the City Manager hire

McKINNEY, Texas (Aug. 16, 2013) – City Manager Jason Gray has announced the hiring of James “Darrek” Ferrell as the Assistant to the City Manager. Ferrell will start Monday, Aug. 19.

The position of Assistant to the City Manager provides analysis, support and project management to the entire City Manager’s Office. Ferrell formerly served as a Budget Analyst III for the City of San Antonio’s Office of Management and Budget. In this role, he was responsible for budgetary communications and financial reporting.

“The Assistant to the City Manager is an important position in the City Manager’s Office. We look forward to Darrek joining the team and contributing toward strategic initiatives for the entire community,” said Gray.

Ferrell joined the City of San Antonio as a management intern shortly after graduation from Texas A&M University, where he graduated Cum Laude. He earned a Masters of Public Administration degree from the George Bush School of Government and Public Service at A&M.

“My wife and I are excited about the opportunity to be a part of the community, and I am looking forward to working with the City Manager and his team in serving the residents of McKinney,” said Ferrell.
