Wright resigns as Austin College swimming coach

SHERMAN, Texas – Brian Wright has resigned his position as head men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach at Austin College to take a position as a faculty member at DePauw University, Austin College has announced.

“We appreciate Brian’s leadership of the swimming and diving program as the head coach,” said athletics director David Norman. “He has been an integral part of the Austin College community and has strengthened our swimming and diving program over his time here. We wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Wright coached the swimming and diving team for the past five years while also serving as adjunct professor of Exercise and Sports Science, and was the ESS Department Chair during the 2012-2013 academic year. Under Wright’s leadership, the Austin College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have set numerous school records in his tenure, including 11 last season when he also coached two individuals to All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
