Honey Grove -- The appearance of the neat brick home belied what had just happened inside.

Residents of the small North Texas town of Honey Grove awakened Monday morning to find their city was the setting for the latest episode of domestic violence.

Law enforcement vehicles surrounded the house on the northwest corner of the intersection of North 14th Street and Elm Street in Honey Grove, a city located on the eastern edge of Fannin County with a population 1,668 at the 2010 Census, after an apparent murder-suicide claimed the lives of Michael and Traci Troutt.

Texas Rangers were investigating the crime scene Monday, however early indications are that Mrs. Troutt shot and killed her husband in the early hours of July 1 and then took her own life with a bullet from the same gun.

The middle-aged couple -- Mrs. Troutt was in her late 40s and Mr. Troutt was in his early 50s -- were both employees at Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center in Bonham where Mr. Troutt was in charge of security and Mrs Troutt served in an administrative capacity.
