McKINNEY, TEXAS (April 23, 2013) – Grammy winning folk icon group the Indigo Girls will perform in McKinney Performing Arts Center’s Courtroom Theater on Friday, May 17 at 8 p.m. Tickets are available and already selling fast.

“McKinney Performing Arts Center is thrilled to bring the Indigo Girls to McKinney. We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response we have received about their performance. These accomplished artists will offer an impressive acoustic show in our intimate Courtroom Theater,” said MPAC Director Ty Lake.

Indigo Girls is a duo formed by Amy Ray and Emily Saliers who continue to gain fans decades into their careers. The duo began performing together in high school and found success in 1989 with the release of their self-titled breakthrough album. The album included their first hit, “Closer to Fine,” which helped them win a Grammy in 1990 for Best Contemporary Folk Recording.

Throughout the years, the Indigo Girls have earned a devout following as a result of a constant tour schedule and dedication to a number of social and environmental causes. Their tested ‘two-women-with-guitars’ formula showcases their two distinct personalities and songwriting styles.

The Indigo Girls’ latest studio album, Beauty Queen Sister, was released on IG Records. Reserved tickets for the performance are $50 each and are available through MPAC’s Emerson Ticket Office at 214-544-4630 or online at http://www.mckinneyperformingartscenter.org.
